Ronald Wilson Reagan (1911-2004) was the 40th President of the United States and served two terms in office from 1981 to 1989. He was born on February 6, 1911, in Tampico, Illinois, the second son of Nelle Wilson and John Edward ("Jack") Reagan. His father nicknamed him "Dutch" as a baby. Adam Clymer (b. New York City, April 27, 1937), chief Washington correspondent for the New York Times and author of Edward M. Kennedy: a Biography (Morrow, 1999). After graduating from Walden School in 1954, Clymer earned his B.A. from Harvard University in 1958 and did post-graduate work at the University of Cape Town, South Africa on a Frank Knox Fellowship in 1959.
